Today, Mary’s Fish Camp continues a tradition that started decades ago in 1946. Simple cabins, river mornings, and a deep connection to this place. Old Florida isn’t gone. It’s still right here.

At Chinsegut Hill Historic Site, the history of emancipation in Hernando County comes into focus.

From once enslaved people who worked on the property — like Elizabeth Carr Washington — to those who played a significant role in freedom, such as Fielder Harris, @Chinsegut preserves these unique, often untold stories with care.

While Florida’s Emancipation Day is observed on May 20 — marking the day in 1865 when freedom was proclaimed in our state — today we join in honoring the national significance of Juneteenth.

Great time at the Brooksville Depot Centennial! 🚂

Thanks to all who stopped by and supported us! 💖
