Razzle Dazzle Fashionistas hard at work!

Fashionistas meet twice a week at The Hub for Fashion Club. The NSB middle and high school students learn from fashion design mentors how to design clothing and accessories from patterns and fabrics through fitting and accessorizing.

All will be revealed May 15th at the 2022 Razzle Dazzle Fashion Show.

Introduction to Relief Printmaking with Linoleum with Jennifer Harper at The Hub on Canal
Saturday, March 26, 10am-3pm

This one-day workshop introduces the artist to the fundamentals of carving a linoleum block and then printing using hand methods and a small printing press. No experience needed. All materials included.

7th Annual Frank Ferrante Joy of Sax Concert at The Hub on Canal
Friday, March 11, 7-9pm

This year's concert presents The American Songbook, a selection of Jazz tunes from Sinatra, Ellington, Cole and others. A studio artist at The Hub, Frank is also a talented saxophonist who spent part of the 1960s playing in The First Marine Division Band while stationed at Parris Island, SC. Frank is dedicating his proceeds from the evening’s performance to The Hub on Canal’s programming for children. This will be Frank’s final concert fundraiser.

$10 donation at the door.

“Loosen Up” Oil & Acrylic Workshop with Souby Boski
Date: Saturday, February 5, 11am - 3pm

Fee: $100 for members, $120 for non-members

You will learn what it takes to "loosen-up" your oil or acrylic paintings and apply paint in a gestural, painterly manner, whether you use oils or acrylics. Simplification is the common denominator. The more you simplify your techniques, the more it frees your mind to concentrate on staying loose. Bigger brushes, more paint and working quickly will take your painting to unexpected places by departing from realism. Bring several canvases and reference photos.

Few places conjure mental images of more clarity than Greece. The tattered but unbroken power of the Acropolis. The windmills of Mykonos. The blue and stark white beauty of Santorini perched above the impossibly beautiful Mediterranean. Lazy lunches under the shade of ever present olive trees, capped with ouzo and spanakopita. You can close your eyes and imagine it, or you can view those vistas as captured by the artist Beatrice Athanas. Beatrice became Greek by marriage and the country’s beauty captured her heart.
