✨Hub Artist of the Week: Mary Wentzel ✨

Mary Wentzel is a talented mixed media painter known for her bold colors and rhythmic detail. Inspired by Florida’s vibrant flora and fauna, her work brings nature to life on canvas. A graduate of Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, Mary has had a distinguished career as a museum curator and educator, including positions at the Museum of Arts and Sciences and Ormond Memorial Art Museum. Her paintings have been exhibited across Florida, earning numerous awards, and her illustrations have appeared in books and magazines nationwide. Mary is also the author of her second children’s book, Crazy’s A to Z for Kids, and her work can be found in private collections around the world.

✨ Hub Artist of the Week: Joann Grosso ✨

Joann Grosso is drawn to the history and soul of old things; the way age shapes their look, feel, and even scent. Inspired by her grandmother Emma, who saved what others discarded, Joann learned the value of preserving and reimagining cast-off items. She collects overlooked objects, as well as bits of nature she finds along her spiritual walks, transforming them into assemblages that tell stories.

Her process is intuitive, often beginning with a single item or a container of wood or metal. Using old tools and hardware, each creation becomes a word hidden within her, finally spoken through the art. Assemblage making brings her joy and satisfaction, helping her explore change, memory, and belonging.
